My salutations to the mighty Sun
who shines ever so bright as never
breathing in new courage and hope
to every soul that looks up to him.
He is always there when you need him
unless he rests in the depths of the night
His first ray is the daily prompt by which
all beings get up and set themselves up.
His appearance from the mild to the fiery
for all, he appears as a true benefactor
without him, won’t the world be all gloom?
lost in darkness and devoid of very life.
He is concerned about every one of us
his duty being to sustain us in all walks
he shrinks in size but never shuns his work
days and nights, a result of his progress.
He shows how every rise has a gradual fall
how the mild become fiery before they sink
without him, we would drop dead by work
as we would never know when to take rest.
P.S : Thanks are due to Rupali who blogs at mazeepuran.wordpress.com for inspiring me to write this with her above clicked picture.
Just as someone sends guided missiles to snuff out lives,
ever loving nature sends guided rains to all parts of the land
some as showers, thunderstorms, and then raining cats and dogs
Indian cities are waiting to see scenes and songs such as this below
the countdown to the great Indian monsoon having started
we don’t know how many tons of life giving water will bomb on us
hoping and wishing dear mother nature will provide a bounty
to help sustain life after the smiling sun has shined enough
waiting with anxious breath, rain when will you rain?
I inspired you with good old mathematics
so that you could count your many blessings
You went further and invented my hidden laws
and called it physics to psyche up your image.
You branded our chemistry and researched on it
I was happy seeing you make wonders with it all
to see my subjects create new ones with time
or so I thought, but I was wrong all this time.
You spoilt the biology of our own good selves
my geography too, who harbored you all this while
and nurtured your educated whims and fancies
until one fine day, when we all, faded into history…

I have been standing for years
lending ears to many persons
walking below their lively days
some, who sat beneath or came
to fulfill their needs, be it any.
The birds had built many a nest
I have seen fledglings groomed
who fly away not to be seen again
people to whom I gave cool shade
be it the hot sun or the cold rain.
The kids who pelted me with stones
at me to let go of the fruits on them
I did not mind for reason though
little they knew, they did disturb
nests secure, be it high or low.
Many a kid climbed me or made
swings I supported with my arms
I have seen good times and seasons
prospered in bounty, long years
all, to offer, be it flowers or fruits.
I have seen bad times, these days
my arms cut, citing obstruction
The pollution seeps to the ground
affects my health causing me pain
I weep, by shed leaves oozing gum.
I know time will come when one
sees me, an obstacle to their plans
I will be glad who ends my agony
now everyone shuns a sore me
my memories will die, be it so…
